facial scars ,hypertrophic lacking pigment

Postby carli caton » Thu Sep 13, 2012 5:39 pm

I have attached photos of facial scarring received following an knife attack , bearing in mind the location they are causing me the upmost of distress. what would you suggest ? the scar near my mouth on my cheek is hypertrophic not keloid. the little one near my eaye is not hypertrophic but is a bit depressed what do you sujest, they were both sustained at the same time. can cosmetic tatooing fix loss of pigment ?

hi,
sorry to hear what has happened to you. for the depressed scar, the best option is a formal geometric broken line repair to improve it. if you would like to try something more conservative, a facial filler could be used but it would ultimately not be as effective as a GBLR. as far as your hypertrophic scar is concerned, i would first inject it with 5FU a few times to get it as flat as possible. i would then recommend a GBLR as well if possible to get most of it improved. Any remaining pigmentary areas could be tattooed by an expert tattoo person. i have someone who works with me in Dallas that does this but that would be the last step in my opinion.
best,
s.
