Over corrected forehead and upper cheek

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

Over corrected forehead and upper cheek

Postby texascrazy » Sun Aug 19, 2012 9:09 am

Hi Dr. Lam,

I am 25 year old and had my fat grafting on forehead and upper cheek 3 weeks ago. It was my first injection and I was asked to do it again 3 months later for a more permanent result. However, it is unfortunate that the result of fat graft was dissatisfying. my forehead looks too big like an alien and the fat makes my face flatter and fatter. my nose becomes smaller and less straight. the fat on my eyebrow also changes my facial structure that doesn't fit with other features. the upper cheek fat together with browbone fat narrow my eyes. One word, I am very frustrated with the result.

It would be so kind of you if you can provide info on:

1. does the fat remain as time goes by? how long can be dissolve naturally?
2. Should i consider kenalog injection? if so, usually how effective it is? and how long does the swelling last? I know it is more suitable for the palpated case, in case of a wanted large mass removal on forehead, is it not recommended?
3. what are the alternatives?

Thanks so much for your help! anxious patient

1. does the fat remain as time goes by? IT IS PERMANENT IF DONE WELL. IF IT HAS BAD BLOOD SUPPLY IT WILL FADE OVER THIS YEAR. how long can be dissolve naturally? IT CAN'T.
2. Should i consider kenalog injection? NO, THAT WILL ONLY CAUSE DENTS. if so, usually how effective it is? IT IS NOT AND DANGEROUS. and how long does the swelling last? TYPICALLY 1 TO 3 WEEKS. I know it is more suitable for the palpated case, in case of a wanted large mass removal on forehead, is it not recommended? NO.
3. what are the alternatives? PROBABLY PATIENCE AND HOPE THAT IT GOES AWAY THIS YEAR. IF IT DOES NOT, IT WILL PROBABLY REQUIRE SURGICAL EXCISION. I DON'T DO THAT THOUGH. BE CAREFUL AS YOU GET OLDER BECAUSE AS YOU GAIN WEIGHT SIGNIFICANTLY YOUR FAT CAN GROW IN SIZE. RIGHT NOW, THE BEST OPTION IS PATIENCE AND WAIT FOR THINGS HOPEFULLY TO GO AWAY. SORRY THAT I CAN'T HELP YOU MORE.
