Am I a good candidate for Alar base reduction alone?

Postby MBLAQ » Tue Aug 14, 2012 10:15 pm

Hello Dr.Lam,

I am quite self-conscious about the shape of my nose, especially the width. I do have a high straight bridge but I feel that the nostril width is too wide. I wanted to undergo only alar base reduction, would I be a good candidate for that?

I have attached a few pictures of me for your convenience

honestly, no. the problem is you have a relatively wide central tip. by doing an alar base reduction, you will most likely make the central tip even wider looking. try pinching your nose in and you will see what i am talking about.
best,

I actually pinched my nose numerous times before and the tip didn't look wider of out of proportion (at least in my view) and my whole nose appeared sleeker and slimmer or maybe I am pinching it wrong. I believe the pictures that I posted are poor representations of how the tip of my nose look, here is a picture taken under my chin, maybe this one will be a better representation.

ok, from the basal view i can see an indication for a moderate but not aggressive alar base reduction.
