Dr.Lam,

I would like to know what would can be done to decrease chances of a keloid returning. I had keloid removed May 2012 along with radiation. I notice that my tiny line starting to appear on week of July 25th, it is not thick but when I rub across the site and feel a tiny growth. I am suppose to get an injection on Aug 7th. Today I rub some Mederma and Vitamin E on scar area. Please tell me what should a patient expect after Keloid and radiation treatment, will a small scar return because I really don't know to expect? I would apprecate all/any suggestions.

there can be a small recurrence but generally in 90% of cases is unlikely. i assume you had the radiation timed within 24 hours of the surgery and the surgery was done in multiple layers to minimize tension? silicone gel can help between 9 to 12 weeks following surgery and radiation.
