6 months post-op

Postby citeeofangels » Thu Jul 26, 2012 3:26 pm

Hi Dr. Lam, I had a rhino, dub eyelid and chin graft done 6 months ago. I am happy with my dub eyelid results but my gripe is with the nose, it now has a slight bump which was never there before the op, I was told that the nose change can take up to a year to find its new shape so I should wait for it to heal and settle before deciding what to do, this was told to my by my PS about 3-4 months ago however we're at the 6 months mark and the bump is still there, it really bothers me that it is slightly raised and makes my nose uglier than it was before. My other gripe is with my chin graft, he did a bone graft to my chin but I feel that it has since dissolved and my chin isnt as prominent as I hoped for it to be. I should also let you know that I had double jaw surgery/genioplasty almost a year ago. My OS advanced my chin as much as he could but I didnt have a prominent chin to begin with so my PS advised that I should do the bone graft to add an apex to it and to balance out my face since I was doing the eyelid and nose surgery. So my questions are 1. Should I consider revision surgery for the nose or can a simple procedure be done w/o having to do under the knife again? My PS said that he can fix this easily by heightening the nose which will smooth out the bump, does that make sense? Dont know if I relayed that correctly. 2. My bridge definition isnt as prominent as I'd hope for it to be, is there a way to correct this? I figure since I had the nose done, my bridge will show up more but it didnt as much, is this due to the thickness of the Asian skin? 3. I also had an alar cinch done to narrow the nostrils, will this go away over time since when I clean my nose, will it stretch out the skin and widen the nostrils back to the way it was? 4. In regards to my chin, my PS said he can add more bone graft to me but should I even bother going that route or should I look into implant to get that pointy chin? Both my OS and PS did not recommend it due to my genioplasty and the predicament of an implant in there. I would upload the pictures but it's giving me problem so instead, I emailed them to you, hope that's OK. Thank you for taking the time to review and reply. Your recommendations and advice are much appreciated.

i believe i have answered you in a private email but basically with the nose i would not put any more grafts in it for risk that the result would be more unpredictable. probably a small filler should even things out. as far as your chin is concerned, i believe that it is fine in terms of degree of projection.
