Face FG 6 days ago. Fat mistakenly put in nose. options NOW?

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

Face FG 6 days ago. Fat mistakenly put in nose. options NOW?

hi Dr. Lam.

I'm freaking out!!!!!!! I almost flew to you for this FG- should have... Please tell me what you would do. In theory, this fat is still fragile trying to solidify it's blood supply. Kill it with steroid injections or what would you do? it's early so it seems NOW would be the time. This isn't a overfill or swelling situation- this is fat that should have NEVER been placed in that area to begin with. the details...

I understand the process- this is my 3rd FG over 10 years. 2nd with this Dr. 1st was fine. This time without any consult with me, my Dr.decided to build up the bridge of my nose and also smoothed the area around a very small bump i have. he added quite a bit of fat between my eyes/bridge of my nose (i can tell from his markings AND i can tell fat from swelling). Regardless... I DO NOT WANT THIS FAT. We NEVER discussed it before. it will totally change my appearance. i LOVE my nose.

I know how difficult it is to remove fat after all my reading. But this situation is unique- it's very early on and it is fat i never wanted. honestly, i'm ready to go get IPL and Thermage (seriously) as they are supposed to be harmful to fat.

I do not (and will not) wait 6-9 months or whatever to see how this looks. i have a VERY important life event that comes sooner than that. i want to be as proactive as possible.

What should I do? Or, put another way, what are my options (whether you advocate them or not)?

Thank you!!

unfortunately, you probably do not want to hear this but i don't have an answer other than wait and hope it resorbs. i am worried that thermage or some other treatment may cause dents and compound the problem. i really think if you are this early out, most of what you are probably encountering is swelling. i wish i could help you more.

Dr. Lam, as this patient is only 6 days out, would oral steroids like a medrol dose pack have any affect on fat survival? If you believe so how much effect on not just swelling but fat reduction do you think it would have and what window time frame would this be effective for? Thank you for the reply as I am 10 days out from a fat transfer to the face and concerned that I had too much fat grafted as well.
