1 week and 4 days post-op

Postby rob234 » Mon Jul 02, 2012 6:52 am

First of all, I have to say that I'm happy with the results until now.

I only got one problem though and I hope somebody can explain it to me. Since the Op, every time I fall asleep and awake in the morning, I immediately feel wet behind the ears. When I go to the bathroom to "swab" behind my ears, there's some sort of dirty yellow fluid/sticky mess on my hair and ears and it doesn't smell to pleasant either. I think it may be because of the way I sleep at night, sometimes I think I shift during deep sleep and wind up on my side or my head too low and I end up by pressuring the liquids out. But the only way out for fluids is the back of my ear, the sutures. Does this mean my sutures haven't closed properly? Is the fluid normal almost 2 weeks post-op ? Should my plastic surgeon have recommended some anti-bacterial cream ? Keep in mind that my ears are still swollen and bruised.
Thanks in advance, Robert

p.s : I did a little research on the yellow fluid. I think it is called: blood plasma and it's very common to leak when your ear is overstretched.

honestly, i don't recall ever seeing that following an otoplasty. ask your doctor about what is going on.
