Hi Dr. Lam,
I am a 28-year old asian male with hypertrophic scarring on the back of my neck. I had a scar revision done about 15 months ago with poor results. The doctor performed an excision with steri-strips followed by 5 steroid injections spaced 6 weeks apart. The shots flattened the scar a bit but my plastic surgeon recommended no more shots because the outsides are almost indented now (the raised part was mostly in the middle).
I am now considering laser treatment. Dr. X here in Washington DC charges $500 for a consultation. Before spending that kind of money for a consultation I was wondering if you could kindly provide your opinion on whether or not laser treatment (CO2, pulsed dye) would be effective in reducing the raised portion of the scar and the redness. I would very much considering traveling to see you if you think you could help.
Thank you!!
