Lip Thinning

Postby pepsioldspice » Tue Jun 19, 2012 3:51 pm

dr. lam, i wanted to inquire about a lip reduction procedure. Can you make my lips as thin as I want or is there a limit. I have medium sized upper lip and fat bottom lip and would like both reduced as much as possible. Thanks.

no, there is a limit due to too much teeth showing and also functional tightness. you have to trust me to take down what i can and no more and no less.

Okay, thanks for responding Dr. Lam. I've attached some pictures of how my lips look now and how I want them to look. Is this reasonable in your opinion? Thanks for your time.

that does not look entirely unrealistic. maybe a little less reduction on the bottom lip.

Thanks again for the prompt response, I just have one concern. Will I see a difference in my lips? I've been looking at tons of before and after pictures of different lip reduction procedures and while some lips look changed, a lot don't seem to have changed at all. I just want to know whether this is because of the limitations of the procedure itself or if the patient actually asked not to have it reduced too much.

again, i cannot speak about other physicians' work but in my hands i typically see quite a bit of swelling during the first week where one cannot tell too much difference at all after the initial swelling sets in.
