Artefill and Midfacelift

Postby Lmiller417 » Sun Jun 17, 2012 9:23 pm

Dr. Lam,
It sounds like you are a big advocate of Artefill. If this filler is injected in the tear trough and upper cheek area, is it still possible to have a midfacelift at some point down the line? My understanding is that Artefill is a permanent filler and I'm wondering if the cheeks can be re-adjusted vertically with a permanent filler in these areas.

Thanks,
Lisa

good question. i would doubt that a mid facelift would have any problem with artefill in there. in general, mid facelifts really don't do anything. a colleague of mine looked at the mid face and found that over 40 years there was zero evidence of gravity in this area.

Thanks for your response. I have seen many bad midface lifts but also some really amazing, long lasting ones also.
I'm still a bit confused how a permanent filler could be placed on the upper cheekbone and then moved vertically afterwards. Assuming the filler was placed in the proper location initially, wouldn't it appear unnatural by elevating it even slightly into the tear troughs region? I don't see how it couldn't protrude outwards and give a very unnatural and "done" look.. Lisa
