hollowness around mouth

Postby foofs » Mon Jun 11, 2012 4:07 pm

Hi Dr. Lam,

I am a 29 year old female, and ever since I can remember I have been extremely self conscious about the hollowness in my nasolabial area. I have recently given birth to a beautiful baby girl and have noticed that the hollowness around my mouth has worsened. The area looks dark and without makeup I just look tired. I am looking into filling that area but I am second thinking my decision after seeing your "smile lines" video. I would love it if you could have a look at my picture and tell me what you recommend for me in terms of fillers. I will send you my picture in a private message.

Thank you in advance!

you look a bit hollow under the eyes too. i would say that some fillers (would go that direction due to your age) instead of fat would be great under the eyes and in the folds.

Thank you for the quick reply!

How much filler do you suggest I do on each side? and what type would be best for me? I was told by a Doctor that I need 1.5 total for both sides. Wouldn't 1 cc be a safer option for me ? which means 0.5 on each side.

it depends on what type of filler. however, 1 to 2 syringes total for the folds is not unreasonable. cost varies between 500 to 1000 per syringe depending if you do temporary or permanent. permanent ones need a collagen skin test first. in your case, i probably would go temporary.

Thank you dr.lam!

Do you by any chance fly to Europe or the middle east as a visiting doctor?

One last question!

I just went in to have fillers done in mu folds. The results were great with no bruising! But the doctore gave me a filler i've never heard of before. It's called "Neovelle" an italian brand. Is it any good?

Apparently it's based on highly purified hyaluronic acid.

no real idea about these brands from another country. in the US we only have two HAs, juvederm and restylane. in europe there is like 50 brands. sorry.

also, remember that if you have bruising it would typically show up a few days later.
