3 years doughter accident

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on managing, treating, and correcting acne scarring. (Of note, Dr. Lam is focused principally on acne scarring rather than on managing the ongoing condition of acne, which a dermatologist would be better equipped to address.)

3 years doughter accident

Postby Lora » Sat Jun 09, 2012 6:56 am

Hi Dr Sam,

15 days back My Daughter falls down on a sharp chair side which made deep cut vertically at her forehanded, I went to plastic surgery Dr. immediately on emergency and he couldn’t be able to control much due to the blood and a she was awake..:( it was stitched two inside stitches and plasters tabs outside, i went after 6 days to remove the plasters and i was not happy as the cut still open and looks bad .. I consult another plastic surgery dr. and he advised me for scar revision surgery with general anesthetics to control the result, he said he needs to remove the dead skin after 1 month from the incident and he needs to do stitches deep and maybe outside if necessary to make it fine line..

I am worried about three things which I really appreciate your advice:

1- is general anesthetics safe for kids age 3?

2- is the scar revision is necessary or there is other effective creams or procedures to avoid it ?
3- the scar is not big its half of my finger first part so do you conceder it bad scar ??

I am in Dubai .. appreciate if you also advise me if any chance you are visiting here ??

thanks a lot for your efforts and help..

1- is general anesthetics safe for kids age 3? i cannot speak on that because i do not in general operate on 3 year old children.

2- is the scar revision is necessary or there is other effective creams or procedures to avoid it ? hard to say without seeing her. in general, i think 1 month old scar revision is premature and may not be a good idea, as it could generate more scar tissue to form. what looks bad originally oftentimes heals very well. i certainly cannot speak because i am not seeing your daughter in person for consultation. as far as creams, i use silicone gel to help but there is no perfect solution. does not matter the brand.
3- the scar is not big its half of my finger first part so do you conceder it bad scar ?? hard to say. i would have to see it in person.

I am in Dubai .. appreciate if you also advise me if any chance you are visiting here ?? unfortunately, no. sorry.
