LAM FACIAL PLASTICS

Hi, I am glad to have found your site. I am hoping you can give me advice on facial scarring I have on both my left and right jawlines. I am asian and my skin is very prone to raised scarring. What I have is hypertrophic scarring in a group. I previously had 3 cortisone injections to the areas spread out in 1 month intervals and they did not seem to do very much in terms of shrinking them. I also get acne around the area and it seems to make the scarring worse and spread. If you have any recommendations on what procedures I need to improve the condition I would appreciate it greatly.

Obviously, I have not personally seen you and would only give general guidelines. I have used 5-FU (5-flourouracil) with success and my opinion greater safety than steroid for scarring. You can ask your dermatologist about that. This question really should be asked to a dermatologist rather than a plastic surgeon.
