Subcision

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on managing, treating, and correcting acne scarring. (Of note, Dr. Lam is focused principally on acne scarring rather than on managing the ongoing condition of acne, which a dermatologist would be better equipped to address.)

Subcision

Postby form1025 » Tue May 15, 2012 4:01 pm

Dr. Lam, I have heard you speak of silicon injections to elevate the depressed scar(s),however isn't the scar bound by fibrous tissue. Do you perform and or believe in subcision as a preliminary or adjunct procedure to the silicon injections? Please advise.

Sincerely,
Dave

no subcision in my opinion does not effectively work and if done with silicone could predispose toward migration. i do not see any issue with the donuting effect when injecting silicone because i can get it directly into the bound down scar and that elevates the area safely and effectively.

Is there still a significant risk of migration if the silicone is injected several months prior to the subcision?
