Problems of fat grafting

Postby coral » Tue May 01, 2012 2:23 pm

Dear Dr Lam

I saw your blog and videos about cheek implants and fat grafting and I also prefer fat grafting. I would like to make such a procedure but I live in Switzerland and it seems fat grafting doesn’t exist in that way you practice it.

The surgeon I went thought fat grafting is too expensive because you have to repeat the process (because of fat loss), it would shift, makes dents and the part you take the fat from could look ugly afterwards. Are these, especially the last three statements very likely?
The surgeon told me that cheek implants would be perfect for me. I think they look in most cases unnatural - so I would prefer a fat grafting.

I also would like to know if you have patients from other countries? I would really like to do this procedure, but it seems fat grafting isn’t that popular in my region…

Thanks for your answer.

the answer to your questions about problems is no. in experienced hands you should not have dents etc. my fat lasts and works well for years minus some ongoing aging. yes, i have tons of people from switzerland and all over europe come to see me. because this procedure is so "easy" in terms of not having any incisions, people literally fly in and a day or two later fly back out. because my fat transfer really does not look like others' results, people come to see me from around the world.
best,
s.
