electrocautery scars treatment

Postby imrannasim » Sun Apr 29, 2012 7:05 am

hello
I developed some Pseudofolliculitis lesions on my neck while i was using "Isotretinoin" for last 4 months. Dermatologist performed "electrocautery" 02 weeks ago. I now had several hypermentation scars on my neck looking very ugly. The psedufolliculitis lesions has subsided which probably is due to not shaving rather due to procedure. The situation is quite distressing for me. The dr. is now advising to grow beard.
1. can u give me any idea what to do to get rid of these scars?
2. is electrocautery performed for pseudofolliculis?
I shall be very thankful for you advise.

this question lies a bit beyond the scope of my expertise, as i am not a dermatologist, who would be better served to answer your questions. growing a beard is a great way to minimize the problem. as you know pseudofolliculitis is caused when a curly hair shaft exits near the hole instead of the hole of the skin. electrolysis or some kind of destruction of the hair follicle is one way to minimize the problem. the other is to allow the hair shaft to grow into a beard so that you don't shave it off, which causes the initial problem.
