Silicone Injections

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on managing, treating, and correcting acne scarring. (Of note, Dr. Lam is focused principally on acne scarring rather than on managing the ongoing condition of acne, which a dermatologist would be better equipped to address.)

Silicone Injections

Postby wdubtx » Tue Apr 24, 2012 11:16 am

Dr. Lam,
I came into your office a couple of months ago for silicone injections,I was wanting to come back for another round or two.I don't think that I saw any improvements, but not giving up! My questions are:Do you use the same amount of silicone for each injections? Can (or do) you increase the amount of silicone into your injections on 2nd or 3rd visit-or could you be more aggressive? I have mild scarring, with 6-8 deeper ones that are a little more noticeable. What are your thoughts or knowledge with home use dermarollers or needling? I understand that I need to be patient for my results, and I know the scarring cannot be repaired perfectly.

Thanks, Wes

remember what i said that with one session you probably will not see improvements. i can only be as aggressive as i have been doing no more no less. i do what is appropriate. you put too much in and you get a risk of lumpiness and migration. not worth it. i have found derma rolling and needling practically useless. i have tried this in the past.

my previous derm was very aggressive with silicone. Some deep scars vanished after only one round, ..however i did get several bumps from over injection in some places and even had to get kenalog shots which worked somewhat. I definitely agree that being ultra conservative is way better.
