Dr. Lam, would you please giving me some suggestions?

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on managing, treating, and correcting acne scarring. (Of note, Dr. Lam is focused principally on acne scarring rather than on managing the ongoing condition of acne, which a dermatologist would be better equipped to address.)

Dr. Lam, would you please giving me some suggestions?

Postby s013298 » Sun Apr 22, 2012 11:16 pm

Hi. Dr. Lam, I am amazed by the video about the TCA CROSS treatment to improve acne scars.
I had bad acne when I was teenager and it left me many scars all over my face. I have attached you a pic for reference.
Questions:
1. What course of treatment do you recommend? and How many treatments are needed to expect seeing improvement?
2. How long does the procedure take?
3. Is it painful?

Thank you!

yes, you look like a CROSS treatment candidate. to me i am estimating between 4 to 5 treatments spaced how ever you feel comfortable with a minimum time of 4 to 6 weeks between treatments. no there is no pain. this really does not hurt and only takes a few minutes for each session in the office without need for anesthesia.

Dr Lam, thank you for your prompt response. You become my savior of my face and self-confidence!

Questions:
After the treatment, how long is the downtime?
Am I still able to go to work without look very weird of my face?

Thank you very much.

you will have some open areas for a few days typically less than a week upon which you have to apply some ointment that can look a bit messy. after that time, there is a chance of having some redness or darkening but in many cases it is not significant. many people take 3 to 5 days off from work but you can determine what you need to do after your first treatment.
best,
s.
