Really hope you read Dr. Lam

Postby CuriousA » Tue Apr 17, 2012 12:30 am

I would just like to start off by thanking you for taking the time to answer this.

I have had these "mounds" below the corners of my mouth and above my chin that make it seem like my mouth protrudes. I don't like the way my mouth looks from the front or the side! I think along with it I have a weak chin which makes matters worse! I was hoping you could give me your honest opinion on what the issue with the whole area surrounding my mouth is. Any advice is greatly appreciated. It's obvious something isn't right! My mom has the same mouth area as me, but none of my siblings do which is weird.

I will be checking this forum every day for a response. I really hope you answer as this has been troubling me my whole life.

honestly, i do not have a good answer for you about this. i do not believe i can safely take the bulge down without creating scarring. however, it should be possible to fill the crevice between the bulge and the lower chin that should effectively blend that appearance down so that it looks less protuberant. you could start with temporary, reversible fillers to see if that helps and go with permanent options if you like that change.

Hey dr lam, I was wondering how much a gener consultation would cost with a plastic surgeon? And what type of specialist should I look for? Also, what do you think about a chin implant. I'm definitely interested in the fillers method as recovery time for those is minimal

consultations can range from free to 250 or 500 with many consults giving the money back to you if you proceed with a service. you need to check around but the consult fee should be the least of your concerns. find someone highly recommended and honest. yes, board certification and specialization are important but what is more important is experience and quality results. a chin implant would look terrible because your chin is already prominent and the crevice below your mouth would be worsened by the chin implant. fillers should be the way to go most likely.
best,
s.
