red indented scar on face

Postby samantholouise1985 » Sat Mar 31, 2012 6:27 am

Hi,
I would just like to thank you in advance for any help you can provide. This forum is fantastic.
Ok, so basically I had a few small thread veins on my cheek which 6 weeks ago i had lasered to help improve. The area blistered immediately and after 2 weeeks the scab fell off. Much to my disappointment, although the veins had vanished, the area was still angry red and very indented and large! It looks awful and was not like this before. I am unsure if it burnt, or i just had a bad reaction? The nurse (whom i have visited twice since) has said i need to give it time and that the redness will fade and the indentation should 'granulate out'. I am very sceptical of this as in my eyes it has not changed at all! I am conderned i am going to be left with this scar forever and so would really love to know what my options are.
I hope the picture is of some help and once again, any advice would be greatly accepted.
Kind regards :)

it is very hard to know early on how scars will change. many times they fade. sometimes they do not. if not, some fillers like restylane may help to soften the dent. cutting it out would probably be too risky and risk that it would look worse.

Thank you so much for your response.
Would you agree that this is probably a scar now then? I have a definate gut feeling that this is not what the skin should look like 8 weeks after treatment

Oh gosh I am so upset.
It looks awful. Even the redness i could cope with but the indentation is so obvious. Am i right in thinking that once the skin is gone - its gone for good? I cant see it ever filling out on its own as it really hasnt changed since the scab fell off. Do you think it burnt my skin?
I have booked in to see the consultant at the clinic but i thank you for your responses sincerely.
My next concern is if they try and explain ways of fixing it. Should i run a mile if they say i need a peel, dermobrasion etc and should they be telling me to wait a certain amount of time first? Apolofies but now i am fearful they could make things worse...

i really cannot give you direct advice about things. see your consultant and if the scar persists after 6 months to a year i would be willing to see what i can do to help you.
best,

Samantholouise1985 we need to connect somehow. I have exact same scar as u, and I got it last October. It is exactly same as yours. I am desperate to get rid of it. Have u found out anything yet? I see a dermatologist next month and a plastic surgeon.
