Correction of Fat Graft

Postby michelle01 » Thu Mar 15, 2012 8:52 pm

Hi Dr.Lam,

I am in my late 20's and had a fat transfer procedure done to correct the hollowness under my eyes. I absolutely hate the outcome. One side has more fat and is larger than the other side and it makes my face look asymmetric. I have had Restlyne injections in the past, and I was very happy with the outcome. I just wanted something that would last longer than the restylne and the PS suggested fat transfer. What should I do to correct this problem? I was thinking along the lines of having the fat surgically removed which would probably be the most precise way to correct the problem. One PS recommends that I have the fat micro-suctioned and another PS recommended steroid injections to help dissolve the fat. Any suggestions/recommendations would be great.

how far are you out? hopefully, a short time and you went to someone without a lot of experience meaning that your fat would disappear over time. if it is still there near a year out and it really looks bad you might need a surgical excision to remove it. it is really hard to suction it and i hate steroids due to risk of atrophy of tissues beyond the fat. i would have to go in along the orbital rim to trim the fat out. hopefully it will go away or if not i could place a filler (even a permanent one like artefill) to cover the area if it is not that bad.
best,
s.
