3 ipl sessions lead to poor skin texture/scarring

Postby cveroleyva » Sun Mar 11, 2012 8:57 pm

Hello Dr. Lam,
I had 3 ipls at 2 weeks apart. This is the texture I have now, and in addition to that I lost much of my buccal padding within a 6 month period. I am healthy, am 35 years of age, the last session was done June of 2010, and would like to know if there is anything that can help my texture and if a fat transfer would be of help to at least try to bring countours back to my cheeks. The site where my pictures are posted are below:
http://www.realself.com/review/nyc-ipl- ... ent-damage
I apologize in that I could set up a direct link or upload my photos here, I tried but my computer kept freezing up.
Thank you for being one of the few Doctors that are willing to spare their time to read and respond to posts.
Regards,
Claudia

hi,
thanks so much for the question. i reviewed your photos and i wish i had a solution for you. rough skin texture is really hard to fix. i just starting playing with Botox injected superficially into the dermis at dilute quantities to see if there would be a textural improvement. we'll see. right now the jury is still out. i wish i had a solution for you though.

I understand. It's a shame that I didn't know ipl could create this kind of texture, I thought it was for rejuvenation, it sounded so great I was sold. Instead, I went from smooth to this. Regardless, I've adjusted but do like to check from time to time if anything may help. So then, with the texture staying in place, I'd like to know if I could benefit from fat grafting from you. My weight has been the same since high school, and I have a son and don't plan on having any more children. It'd be nice if I can get some contours back regardless of skin texture.
Thanks you so much for such your prompt reply and honest assessment,
Claudia

I will be 35 this month. I ran into a snag with my connection cord, so I hope I can get you those pictures tomorrow.
Thank you so much for your patience.
Kindest Regards,

Dr. Lam,
Surely enough I struck bad luck. My camera's port is damaged so I can not upload any photos from it. Can I print out the picutures and send them to you via snail mail? How would you prefer I address the envelope to your attention, and at what address do you wish that I use. Also, do you need for me to blow any of them up beyond the regular 4 by 6 prints? Sorry, I'm a little embarrased
Thank you for your incredible amount of patience,
Claudia

Dr. Lam,
I sent them off today:). When you receive the pictures, it's the divot that you can see in the profile pics that I wish to plump up so it provides me with more even contours in the cheeks. I think that's what was accidentally overheated during my ipl treatments, so with that kind of prior trauma to the skin and tissues, I'm not sure if you would consider this a good avenue for me, but if you do after review and any other follow ups, consider me booked for surgery :D .

Claudia
