Herniated fat 1 year after blepharoplasty?

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

Herniated fat 1 year after blepharoplasty?

Postby Rookshire » Fri Mar 09, 2012 10:12 pm

Dr. Lam,

I had a lower blepharoplasty exactly 1 year ago from March 2012. From what I see now it looks as if the bulge I had removed is coming back, although not exactly because it looks more like a dark shadow, is this herniating fat, dark circles, or something else? What are my options? All I would like is smooth even skin and even after surgery I only minimized my problem (excuse my venting)
Thank you in advance! You have no idea how helpful this forum is!

BTW - I am smiling in these photos, the first one below is me an hour before surgery. The rest are after my operation

as you probably may or may not know, i believe that 85% of "herniated fat" is actually signs of hollowness. in other words, you see the "bag" because you are hollow below it. watch this video to understand:

a little filler can often make the area look 10x better quite easily.
best,
