Fat transfer into the temporal region?

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

Fat transfer into the temporal region?

Postby QMcShae » Thu Feb 16, 2012 7:23 pm

Hi Dr. Lam,

First, thank you for the extensive information you've been sharing online including the videos. I appreciate the way you dive in and I interpret your effort as passionate and courageous. For nearly a year I've held steady with about a 50 pound fat loss so it seems I'm getting close to a good time to send you pictures. While I near the end of the year wait, I am back to learning from your site so I might target my questions more effectively. The following one has come to mind.

Do you do fat transfer into the deeper temporal region, that is into the whole area where the temporal muscles attach to the skull? It seems that this area also loses fat as we age and perhaps the entire scalp area loses fat? It seems obvious that you've considered this issue and the pro and cons, but I haven't located your thoughts yet.

Sincerely,

Skinny Head!

hi,
absolutely, yes. i put fat in there almost every other day. the problem is if you just lost 50 pounds the risk of doing fat transfer as you may or may not know is gaining the weight back. fat is a live graft and may not be the best option for you. if you would like to target the temple, the most revolutionary thing i have done in my practice since I learned it last October is using a diluted Restylane that allows me to spread out over the temple with extreme smoothness. i have since done hundreds of patients literally with amazing results including my own staff.
best,
s.
