TCA Cross

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on managing, treating, and correcting acne scarring. (Of note, Dr. Lam is focused principally on acne scarring rather than on managing the ongoing condition of acne, which a dermatologist would be better equipped to address.)

TCA Cross

Postby Shana398 » Thu Feb 02, 2012 3:37 pm

Hi, Dr. Lam

You have done two sessions of silicone for me on some scars I have on my cheeks. You told me they look like they would be amenable to TCA Cross now. I also have some small icepick type scars on my nose and you said you could do the TCA Cross on those, too. My question is, I have been reading that the scars can look worse after TCA rather than better, especially on the nose. Is this true, and if so what are the chances that it will get worse?

Thank you
Shana398

always a risk but pretty minimal in experienced hands. i am very careful to use just the right amount. hard to improve all scars but i need to see yours to determine your level of success on the nose.

Thank you for your response. If I just have TCA cross done on two places on my cheeks, how soon before I can wear makeup? I need to look presentable as I work in a place where I am in front of the public on a daily basis. If I take off a couple of days from work plus the weekend do you think that will that be enough? Thanks.

hard to say. if it scabs over then you should be ok. the key is that you cannot have raw skin with makeup. it could take up to a week depending on how fast you heal and how big the areas are. i cannot make any promises.

What are the chances that the TCA treated area could get worse? Have you ever had anyone get worse? Thanks!
