Are these silicone bumps?

Postby pezz » Sun Jan 22, 2012 2:58 pm

Hi, i had my first round of LIS using the microdroplet technique in NYC and have these bumps where the silicone was injected. At first i thought they were due to the needle poking my skin so i wasnt worried... but its been a full 2 weeks since i had the injections and the bumps are still there! I can feel them under my skin with my fingers but they are only visible when i stretch my skin. Could it be the LIS was injected to superficially?..will they go down with time?. Im a bit worried. :|

I went to a well known dermatologist in Manhattan. Yes, it was silicon 1000. Is there a chance there could still be swelling even after 2 weeks? The bumps dont hurt and the skin in the vicinity of the bumps isnt swollen and looks normal.

The doc said they are due to my skin forming scar tissue which doesnt make sense to me, i personally think the silicone was injected too superficially. Anyway the doc said kenalog could be used to bring the bumps down but i dont think i want to see this doc again. What are your thoughts on possible treatments for this?..is there a chance they could go down with time?
thanks.

hopefully, they will go down with time. i personally do not use kenalog for risk of dermal atrophy that is a hole in the skin. i use 5FU if this is truly scar tissue. if it is silicone it won't fix it. if it is scar tissue, it would.

I see. But how would you be able to tell if its due to scar tissue or silicone? The bumps appeared immediatly after the LIS was injected which is why I think it might be due to the silicone otherwise maybe the bumps woulda appeared later when the scar tissue had time to form-that's my logic.

it is impossible to know. i also see bumps right after silicone due to swelling but they tend to go away after several days to a week.
