Head Scar from fall on cement

Postby curtisr » Fri Jan 20, 2012 3:21 pm

Hi there,

I am 21 years old and fell very hard when i was extremely intoxicated on cement back in September, i am not sure who did my stitches if it was a plastic surgeon or an ER doctor or what which kind of worries me aswell i left the hospital because i was "intoxicated" and was not thinking rationally before they could really check to see if my head or anything else was severely damaged. Anyways i had 9 stitches and there was alot of scabbing under the surface do to scraping my head as-well which i believe may have caused my scar to be worse. it has been 4 months and the scar is still very noticeable and red and a red patch around the scar were the scab was. How long should i wait before going in the sun and seeking care do get rid of the scar?

Thanks,

Curtis

if it is red or thick, i would consider injecting something like 5FU to reduce the scar, using topical silicone gel to help reduce it, and IPL/red lasers to help reduce the thickness and redness too. i typically wait 6 months at a minimum but if things are improving then i wait a year.
