lip reduction

Postby felipescalador » Sat Nov 26, 2011 3:23 pm

Hello Dr Lam

I had a lip reduction procedure done about 1 month ago on my lower lip. I am a 19 old white male. It was swollen the first week. now 1 month into it doesnt look swollen at all.

I can see the change.. the problem is it is not much it still very big. How much should I wait until I could do the procedure with you?

Also I was wondering do lips grow big again? Will they grow back if I gain weight or anything?

many thanks

in general, i ask patients to wait 6 months to let everything heal properly and to make sure the size is as small as you would like after all swelling, etc. is down. you can plan this procedure 3 months before your 6 months are up if you like since i book out several months in advance. in answer to your questions, lips do not grow or change with weight.
best,

Hello Dr Lam

one final question.. I know you didnt perform my lower lip reduction so its very difficult to say something and I should consult the plastic surgeon that performed mine. I already asked him this but it will be of great help if you could answer me this question given you have perfomed several lip reduction procedures unlike most plastic surgeons.

how many weeks after estimate do people recover sensibility?
I ask because I am about 1 month 10 days and was wandering if my lip will feel like it used to..it is at this moment totally numb like if I have something external to my body hanging there, and if it possible it will never recover sensibility? Is there anything I could do to help recover sensibility?

I understand if you prefer not to answer
but anyway thanks in advance

typically, sensation returns slowly over several weeks to months. you are still on the early side of things. i think you should be fine. you may always have a little loss of sensation given what you are describing but i think you should slowly improve over the next few months.
