Eyelid Surgery

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

Eyelid Surgery

Postby Sarahz » Wed Nov 16, 2011 5:49 pm

Hi Dr Lam
I had upper eyelid surgery one month ago.
I had an illness at 28 that created excess eyelid skin and wanted the excess removed at age 30.
I was told that it was minimum skin and fat was removed.

I really hate the results of the procedure.
I would say that before my eyes would have been half way between Asian and Caucasian eyes. My eyelid crease was far from my eyebrows. Now I have a fold right under my eyebrow bone that I find quite upsetting and my eyelids feel huge.

I think I read that you disliked the way the procedure is typically performed that that you have done revisions to "correct" some of the work that was done.

Is this true? If so could you guide me towards some of the before/after pictures?

What can be fixed if you don't like the results of a procedure?

are you asian? did you have a double eyelid procedure or just have skin and fat removed? there is very little ability to fix it completely but i can lower the crease somewhat by putting fat or fillers back in there. that can lower the crease height but not all the way back down. here are some examples you requested:

I'm Caucasian.
I feel like my natural crease line was not followed. Is it possible to put it back to the original position.
Why would the scar be the new crease line?

No, unfortunately, once skin and fat are removed, you can't bring it back to its original position because those elements are gone. Typically the removal of skin is along your crease line so that the scar should be buried or match your crease line. The best way to fix it in my opinion is fat transfer (but it won't completely fix it just improve it).
best,

Is there any advice for patients about promoting healing after the surgery, so that it proceeds without complications and the surgery results are the best possible?

jack,
it depends on how health you are, how gentle your surgeon is, and the type and number of procedures you have. those are the key. i use steroids as well to help afterward. beyond that, i am not convinced bromelein and other things help but you are welcome to try. i had to delete a couple of your other posts because this forum is not intended to share experiences or give advice but just to ask me questions and i answer them to the best of my ability. sorry about that.
best,
s.
