botox jaw reduction questions

Postby kiwi » Sun Nov 13, 2011 1:50 am

Hi Dr
I contemplating about getting botox to slim the jawline but im a little confuse in consultations with surgeons because of different in responds/methods they give. Also the number of injections and the time between injections is different. One surgeon does injection once per month for six months and said the result is some what permanent. The other does 3months, 6months then 9months and the said result will last for one year. Im a asian male in my mid 20s.

What is your method for doing this procedure? How many number of injections and time interval to u uses? What do you think?

Much appreciated.

I do one then I wait 6 months then I wait 9 months after that session. A few people with really huge masseters I do another round at 3 months after the first round to get the full effect. When u do mega dosing that is targeted carefully at the juncture of the bone to muscle I truly believe I get uniquely beautiful results because they are safely, painlessly, and accurately injected. I am always careful to speak of permanence but I think my work lasts the longest because it is targeting both the muscle and the bone. When hitting the muscle where it inserts into the bone it does double duty. 1. It reduces the three heads of the muscle, the biggest sleeve of muscle. 2. It causes the bone to atrophy through not having muscle pull on it leading to more durable results.

I have been told that the new approach for jaw reduction is through intradermal botox? Do you think this will still work? It seems that everyone is saying that the botox is going to be injected to the muscle, why is this doctor saying that it is now through intradermal?

that is only for skin rejuvenation. you will entirely miss the muscle which is much deeper. for botox jaw reduction, you must go deep.

I see, was she possibly saying this because intramuscular injection is much harder to do?
