Needing Assistance - Keloid

Postby kimmiecj » Thu Nov 10, 2011 11:14 am

I had thyroid surgery back in august 1995, that left a keloid. Following the surgery I was getting injections of steroids (only had this done twice), but couldn't endure the pain and was instructed to keep some Vitamin E creme on it daily. At that time I had a small line across my next, but as the years passed by it has gotten bigger and has split in the middle. Upon continuing my apts to my throid dr., was told that that was the type of skin I had and nothing could be done except applying the cream or shots. I didn't like the shots (20 across my neck) due to getting them on a monthly turn around.
Over the years, I've learned to deal with the itching and coloration dark change. I still see my thyroid dr. on a quarterly visit but was told they could not do anything about the scar, I would have to contact my primary care physician (july 2011). During the month of September, my scar hurted soooooooo bad and had a fowl odor that I notice that it was full of pulse. I went to the dr. and he did a qtip test and said it was infected & was given some Bactrim. within a two/three week time frame I got another one and went to the emergency room and was told it was an infections and was given a terdol shot and they cut it/drain it/applied a bandage wrap. Ok, again it has came back (yesterday) bigger and my scar is swollen and hurts tremendously. It is filled with pulse and I called my dr and was told that his next available apt is in December 2011. Very upset at this moment, because no one can tell me why this is happening or what's causing it. I was advised by a local dr. to see if it could be removed because of the reoccuring situation. As of today, I haven't gotten a response from my primary care doctor. WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE???????????????????????????I REALLY NEED SOME MEDICAL ADVICE. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

i personally think anything short of excision with TIMED radiation (to start within 24 hours after complete excision) will lead to failure. my success with keloids exceeds 95% when i do what i just mentioned. i truly specialize in keloids. i would first make sure the infection is cleared then i would plan on surgery plus radiation. if you come to dallas, you need to be here 5 days for the radiation therapy. we can help you coordinate that if you are interested.
