This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on managing, treating, and correcting acne scarring. (Of note, Dr. Lam is focused principally on acne scarring rather than on managing the ongoing condition of acne, which a dermatologist would be better equipped to address.)
Hi, Dr. Lam. First of all, thank you for the opportunity to ask questions. I flew in from out of town to see you in September and you did some silicone injections into some scars for me. You told me to come back in three months, so I have already made an appointment for December. I do see some improvement already. My question is, did you tell me to wait the three months because I am from out of town or is it because collagen can continue to grow for that period of time? How long does collagen continue to keep growing, if that is the correct word, after silicone injections? Thanks in advance for your answer.
if i asked you to wait 3 months, the reason is that collagen begins to start taking shape at 3 months. it can even continue for a couple more months further. generally, the 3 month wait is to see how collagen is improving from the silicone. see you in december! s.
