This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)
Dr. Lam, I was searching YouTube videos & came across a few for the PRP Skin Rejuvenation procedures to fill in some facial lines. What's your opinion on this process?
yes, this is known as the vampire facelift. i spoke with the rep recently at a trade show. he told me that the failure rate is about 40%. i see absolutely no reason to be injecting PRP for filling in lines when other fillers work consistently well. that being said, i am starting to use PRP in 2 weeks for hair restoration: helping donor scars and graft growth. i am really excited about that. other uses of PRP seem a bit voodoo right now. if my thoughts mature over the next year, i will let you know.
