Good morning Dr. Lam
When I was about 13 the dentist told me that there is one of two solutions for my teeth not being in alignment. I was told that I either need to have lower jaw surgery to bring the lower jaw forward or need to have braces to bring the top teeth backwards. As a 13 year old there was no option here. Obviously braces was my decision. Now that I am thirty I am concerned about nasolobial folds caused by sagging skin and also the bottom lip is showing more prominently than it would have should the lower jaw be moved forwards. My question is, does this explanation make sense? I mean is it possible for sagging skin to appear earlier because the facial skin perhaps don't have the support it needs, the lower jaw not being in the position it should be? Also if that is the case what can I do about it? Obviously if I am going to move the jaw forward then the teeth won't be in alignment anymore.
Many thanks...
