Reshaping

Postby Ksun83 » Sun Oct 09, 2011 7:44 pm

Hi Dr. Lam,

are there any cosmetic procedures that can reshape the top of the ears? I know a lot of people like to have their ears pinned back because of protruding, but what about changing the shape at the top of the ear? If not common is that a possible procedure if requested?

i have only done this for redundant helices (the helix edge has an abnormal extra edge that hangs over) but to actually shape it differently risk too much scarring. the only time i would do something like that and have done it is for cancer recons. i would not do it for cosmetic purposes except for the indication mentioned above.

Can Acell be used to prevent any type of scarring? I've heard wonderful things about it.

no, acell results are a bit overstated at this point. a very honest presenter at the recent hair meeting who is not paid by the company showed zero difference in donor scars in a large series.

Hi am try to post a question but for some reason I cannot open new post, any way my question is, I did recently otoplasty witch is reshape the outer of the my helex (reshape the over size helex and deformation fix ), but i noticed that the reshape the over size helex and deformation fix has canceled the inner shape ( no normal fold of helex). my question is that fine and it's side effects of this surgery? and if that can be fix can I do that in future ? Thanks

thank you for the question. if you are early (less than 6 weeks) from surgery than anything could be swelling related but i would also defer to your surgeon regarding this matter. o/w i don't understand what you are talking about exactly. you can post a photo of your ear IF you are at least 6 weeks to 3 months or after your procedure.
best,
s.
