lumps, creases and fillers post fat transfer

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. lumps, creases and fillers post fat transfer

Postby carole » Thu Sep 29, 2011 2:56 pm

Hi Dr Lam,
I'm 3 weeks and 2 days post fat transfer to the face. My eyes don't look so good. My normal undereye circles are now all the way down to onto my cheek, and are more red. I don't know if this is residual from the trauma to the area or permanent discoloration. Have you seen any permanent discoloration in this area? I did have a lot of swelling and bruising. I also have a 1/2 pea sized hard lump in the tear trough of the right eye, and a 1 inch crease at the tear trough-cheek juncture under the left eye. If these don't resolve in the next few weeks, I was thinking that I will need filler. How long do you recommend waiting to get filler post FT? Thanks.

i have not typically seen that length of bruising but it can happen. as far as filling after fat transfer, i typically like to wait several months to make sure all swelling is down and things are ok. however, i guess you could go in as soon as 6 weeks to 2 months if the bump really is sticking out. you should really ask your surgeon what is going on since i should not be the one answering questions about your care when i did not do the procedure. :)

Thanks. I do see him next week for my 1 month visit. The lump wasn't there at the 2 week visit, and I was still swollen. Just wanted to get a 2nd opinion and was also considering a trip to Dallas. I appreciate your response.
