Alternatives to counteract tip ptosis

Postby Christina Maria » Sun Sep 25, 2011 3:10 pm

Dr Lam,

I notice every period of time, such as a couple of months or a year, my nasal tip has a little bit drooped. However I do not want to correct my tip ptosis, but just preventing a further drooping of my nasal tip.

Most probably the cause is due to weak nasal tip support. I was wondering if I can strengthen the nasal support, preventing a further drooping of my tip. The key is to strengthen the natural support mechanisms of the nose with secondary mechanisms to counteract a further drooping of the tip.
I do not prefer surgery or fillers, so are there alternative non-surgical ways to strengthen my nasal tip support?

hmmm, i have never ever heard of such a thing. i would not do surgery to prevent a problem when the problem seems a bit unusual to begin with. also, surgery can further lose some tip support even though in the process you do rebuild tip support. the net effect may not be 100% predictable to be stronger. also, fillers would not make too much sense to support a nose. theoretically, botoxing the depressor septi muscle below the nose could help lift it but your whole situation just does not seem anatomically plausible to justify doing any of this.
best,
