asian blepharoplasty

Postby coco » Sun Jan 06, 2008 6:53 pm

Dear Dr Lam,

What are benefits between getting suture vs. incisonal asian blepharoplasty? I already have double eyelids but i feel my eyes look quite puffy. I want a more opened eye look. Im also thinking of getting epicanthoplasty to open up the inner corner of my eye. What is your opinion on this procedure?

the benefit of a suture technique is that there is almost no recovery time. however, almost every one falls out after a year or more. for this reason, i only do incisional surgery. it takes more time and takes more recovery but is permanent.

epicanthoplasty is undertaken to open the inner part of the eye. it is less in vogue today because many asians want to preserve a little of their ethnicity. I personally modify the epicanthus using a method with a very tiny incision well hidden to minimize scarring in this area and to hide any exposed incisions. this is a technique that i learned in korea. like my eyelids, i am more conservative with my epicanthal advancements. i don't like a sculpted and totally open canthus.

best,
sml
