lump of scar tissue in upper lip

Postby hurt.my.lip » Wed Aug 31, 2011 8:26 pm

hello,
i was assaulted about a month ago and my teeth went pretty deep into the inside top and bottom of my lips; it all healed up ok, but now the inner side of my lower lip has a lump on the inside which i can feel with my tongue which feels like it's deep, and there's a lump on the inside and outside of my upper lip which feels like it's not going away.
there's this slight scar on the upper lip which is basically invisible but seems to mark one edge of this ~1/2 cm-long sided square of hard tissue in my upper lip, right in the middle side; it goes through from the inside to the outside, and i can feel it with my tongue - i can't really scratch or run my teeth over my upper lip without scraping by it. it's a very annoying lump... i wonder if this will ever go away or am i going to have to go get surgery to remove it...?

most likely it will go away. if not, it might just be scar tissue. i would consider an injection of 5-FU. that will probably help soften it and help it go away over time.
best,

do you really think it will go away? it doesn't seem to be getting any smaller... i think they should have sewn it up when it was cut open. What is 5-FU? according to wikipedia it's some kind of anti-cancer drug? wouldn't a shot of corticosteroids work?

i don't know. it oftentimes does go away. 5-FU is an anti-cancer drug but i use it to reduce scars when it injected. steroids are fine. i do no like them because they carry a little risk of over atrophying the tissues.
