This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)
Hi Dr. Lam: This web site is wonderful. Thanks so much for providing such thorough information. I notice in recovery questions for fat transfer you say that lips may appear thin immediately after transfer and that lines around mouth may appear deeper. Why is this? I am a 47 year old on day 7 post fat-transfer to cheeks, jawline and chin and my lovely lips have gone! In their place I have old-lady mouth with seemingly deeper lines around. I am still very swollen. Does this have anything to do with it? When might I expect to see mouth shape and mouth lines return to prior surgery state? Can fat in cheeks permanently change way mouth lays? In a little bit of panic! Many thanks!

hi, my comments really only apply to my patients not any other doctors btw since i have really no idea how they apply their fat. for my patients, when the fat is swollen, the lips can look squeezed down and the surrounding area can press down on lines to make them look worse. typically, for my patients that lasts about 2 weeks with the worse time being the week after. best of luck. sml

Very interesting web site. There are so many useful information and you give very clear answers. But is it possible to enlarge lips without serious surgery. I don't really want to make surgery at all, but want to look great. Are there any other options available?
again, i deleted your reference. if you are working for that company or web site and i see it posted again, i will have to ban you from this forum. sorry. this forum is not meant for commercial endorsements of other sites. if your question is serious, then the answer is yes i use silicone injections for permanent options and i use juvederm and restylane for temporary solutions. i do not like any surgical implants in the lips. i think they feel and look unnatural. best, sml
