Fat mounds by the mouth

Postby SCO » Sun Jul 17, 2011 2:26 pm

I have small fat pockets located by my lips that I'm wondering is treatable for fat removal either by cutting it out or lipo?

They are visible when I smile and at rest.

I have heard facial lipo is generally dangerous due to the nerves and could produce some devastating results should there be a problem and if they remove fat closer to the skin causing surface irregularities.

I read this about Buccal fat removal though, this is NOT the area I'm interested in having removed though, which is a smaller area near my mouth in the picture disclosed.

What is the risk profile for for fat removal in the area I'm interested in? and which option is the best that you would perform?

Here is the pic with the circled problem area.

what you have is not easy to fix and perhaps not worth fixing. i would not cut it out as a risk for a contour irregularity. suctioning may not be perfect either. i really wish i could give you a better answer but i don't have a good one.

A couple PS's have told me modest micro liposuction could help (1 to 2 cc's of fat), or do you think they're trying to take my money and the potential for complications outweigh the potential benefits?

And how about good old fashion overall body weight loss, would that help or made the problem look worse?

1. micro lipo could help. i have never found it to be that successful. i don't think using a micro liposuction cannula and targeting a small area is that risky in skilled hands. big facial lipo can be. i think rather that it is typically unimpressive.
2. i don't think weight loss will affect it one way or the other. those are my thoughts.

Very simply put - a fat face hes stretched skin. So when you lose face fat the skin is not as stretched resulting in more wrinkles.

i would disagree with that comment. a thin face does not have more wrinkles. if you lose fat slowly to become thin, your skin accommodates and you don't have more wrinkles. if you lose it quickly you will have more sagging of the skin especially if you are older but not necessarily more wrinkles. wrinkles are a product of movement and for at least the upper face can be managed with Botox.
