Eligible for Otoplasty? (pictures included)

I have a few questions about my ear. I'm aware that it is a lop ear, but would you be able to correct it to make it similar to my normal one (or would it even be possible to correct it)? And I was also wondering if you have ever had a case like this and, if so, were you successful in correcting it?

hi,
yes, what you have is not a lop ear but a deformed helix where it is overgrown downward from at least the photo that i see. i have worked on this before successfully. i removed the helical excess to improve but not entirely correct the situation. see if this video is what is similar to your ear or not:

And the reason why I'm asking is because I was wanting another surgeon to look at it. I have had another board certified plastic surgeon look at it (an actual consultation) and he claimed that it was a lop ear, as well. And he has never operated on an ear like this, and I don't want it to be an experiment because this ear makes me absolutely self-conscience about everything. It's horrible.

My main concern is the "pointedness" of it. I want it to be shaped to look round and its height increased by a little to make it not look so small.

i removed the link because i do not allow links to other sites. however, in general, these are semantic terms that mean very little. a lop ear i define is as an absence or weakening of the antihelical fold that causes the helix to fold over. in your case you just have a helical deformity. the photos you showed in your last response were of kids with deformities that require complicated reconstructions. i have experience improving your situation but it won't be perfect just improvement as i showed. hopefully that makes sense.

I'm not really expecting perfection, just an outcome that will result in my ear not being noticeable in comparison to my normal one.
