Scared and Active

Postby smilehquotes » Tue Apr 19, 2011 5:45 pm

Hi there,
I have a few questions regarding the Rhinoplasty...
(Please! pardon my blunt statments)

so here's my scared comtemplation about the nose job. I've been wanting this for some time now and Ive been doing a lot of research and meeting with some sergeons to see what my option of doctors are and it seems as if everytime I find a good sergeon i see their work and their final work turns out to be the same arch.
1.Does anyone know of any good doctors (as a referrence) that can give me a straight nose but wihtout the drastic "who's nose" from doctor seuss?[preferred in toronto]
2. Im an active lady through sports and schools, and i've been told that I shouldnt do anything for a full week and for a month i should be careful. What are some exercises i can do while im home? and what should i avoid doing for the time being?
3. And my major fear, what are the chances of this surgery leaving scars on my face? I have dark olive skin and i scar quite easily and the last thing i need is this noticable scar sitting on my face because of the surgery. Im aware of the bruising but no sergeon has really informed of the side effects or downfalls or scarring this surgery may come with. PLEASE HELP!
thank you :)

THIS FORUM IS INTENDED NOT AS A DISCUSSION FORUM BUT AS A QUESTION YOU POSE TO ME THE SURGEON THAT I THEN RESPOND TO. IT IS NOT MEANT TO PROMOTE OTHER SURGEONS. SORRY.

IF YOU ARE NOT MY PATIENT, THEN YOU MUST ASK YOUR SURGEON. FOR MY PATIENTS I WOULD LIKE NO ACTIVE STRAINING OR BENDING OVER AND DEFINITELY NOTHING THAT COULD STRIKE THE NOSE ACCIDENTALLY. I WOULD PROBABLY TAKE SEVERAL DAYS TO A WEEK OFF FROM EXERCISE THEN RESUME LIGHT EXERCISE OF A STATIONERY BIKE THEN GO TO A LIGHT WALK AND GO FROM THERE. WATCH THIS VIDEO TO UNDERSTAND SOME GENERAL PRINCIPLES THAT I ESPOUSE FOR MY PATIENTS:

FIRST, I RARELY GET BRUISING BECAUSE OF THE FINE INSTRUMENTS I USE. SECOND SCARRING IS VERY RARE EXCEPT WHEN YOU TRY TO NARROW THE NOSTRILS IN. THEN THAT CAN LEAD TO VISIBLE SCARRING SO I TRY TO AVOID THAT TECHNIQUE IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. HOPE THAT HELPS.
BEST,
SML
