Infection

Postby ahappycamper » Sat Apr 16, 2011 2:02 pm

Dr. Lam,

I recently had a cheek implant surgery exactly one month ago in a foreign country with no complications. Healing has seemed to go well except this morning when I woke up, my right side is significantly more swollen that it was yesterday or the few days before. Before it was my right side that was going down much faster than my left side, but today it blew up and now my left side is normal and my right side looks like it went back a couple weeks in the healing process. I don't really feel any additional pain, maybe slightly more stiffness and discomfort, it's pretty hard to tell, but basically, I don't have any excruciating pain. Also, I don't have any fever or chills or additional redness, just more swelling.

Is this normal, is it possible I may have an infection? My biggest fear is infection. I would call my doctor but he's not in the office today and they are currently asleep in their country right now. I took pictures of myself, would it be possible if I could send them to you for diagnosis?

Thank you so much.

i think it is precarious for me to try to diagnosis an infection without seeing you. you really need to see a physician in person to make that diagnosis. however, in general, things that point to an infection are redness, tenderness, pain, warmth, etc. if you don't have that, it may not be an infection. but again, i really cannot and should not be making a diagnosis like that on a forum here without seeing you in person.

Hello Guys I had a little infection of the hair a few several weeks ago.I saw a doctor and he recommended some anti-biotic and said to use these anti-biotic and a thick bandage. After useing these the disease looks better but there is still some minimal leak on bandage.Does these attacks normally take more times to cover up or that's these anti-biotic isn't operating very well and need something stronger?

sorry, i cannot dispense direct medical advice on here since i am not seeing you as a patient in person. you really need to ask your physician that question.
best,
