raised insicion

Postby erg » Sun Apr 03, 2011 8:54 am

Hi Dr. Lam,

I had a skin lesion on my forehead removed a month ago. I wasn't at all prepared for the look of the elevated insicion after surgery. I had never seen after photos that looked like this. Now it has been a month and it has come down some but is still elevated and under certain light looks pretty bad. There was no infection and the lines seem to have healed with no complication. I am wondering how long will it take for this elevation to go down? Is there any chance it will not go down? Perhaps I am just being impatient, I only worry now because I've never seen anything like this in before and after photos that I looked at before having this procedure done. I am just wondering if other surgeons find this to be normal.

some elevation at a month probably will settle over time, especially if you see it improving already. hard for me to give you a timeframe since i am not aware of the method your surgeon used. i typically do not see elevation at a month but that does not mean anything.

Thanks for such a quick reply.

I've been trying to upload a picture, but I can seem to make my file fit what's required for this forum.

I havn't seen much improvment in this last week and it feels hard underneath the raised areas. Are there methods that produce a raised area? I've looked high and low for pictures that appear like what I have and cannot find any.

Thank you for your time

most people do not show one month photos so you will most likely not find any on the Internet. please speak with your surgeon so that you can open that line of communication. only he/she knows what was done. i typically purposefully raise my scar so that it won't dent in over time. however, i only see it being raised typically for the first 1 to 2 weeks. again, that is concerning my patients not someone else's. please consider asking your surgeon what he/she thinks.
best,
