asian eyelids revision?

Postby kiwi » Wed Mar 30, 2011 3:46 am

hello dr,

three months ago i underwent a asian double eyelids surgery. i know it only been three months and i am fully aware that it take 1 year to heal but i am unhappy with the result because the crease is way to high on one side and looks very unnatural. the crease is very deep and very aggressive and it arches in on the inter side of one eye. simply put the eyes look completely different from the other and in a year time in my opinion it will still look unnatural just because the way the shape/position of the crease is. If the position/sharp of the crease does not improve in 1 year time, my question to you is do u preform revision surgery for the asian eyes? can the shape/position of the crease be changed? do u specialize in this kind of procedure?

revision eyelid surgery for the asian eyelid is very difficult to get right. once the crease is too high it is a very very very difficult matter to lower it for any surgeon. although i do perform revision eyelid surgery, i need you to understand that limitation. hopefully in a few months from now things will look more natural for you to avoid that need.
best,

dr,
have u ever encounter something like this before in one of your eyelids revision where a patient crease is too high and needs to be lower? When the crease is at a certain height after 3 months does that mean that where it will be? or is there still a chance that it will appear lower and less deep itself after the swelling has completely gone? i just would like to know your opinion how typically the eyes would heal after this kind of procedure. i wont use your answer as a final result in my case, only asking your opinion. i hope u can share your thought with me.

two things: typically it is very hard to lower a crease successfully. second, the 3 month result is typically far from the end result. it takes a year for the crease to lower down to a normal height if you had a full-incision method, which sounds like that is what you had done.
