ARTIFILL PMMA FILLER.

Postby JONILEA » Wed Mar 16, 2011 5:32 pm

Hi Dr.Lam,
thankyou for creating this very informative forum and for your invaluable knowledge.
Some years ago, when it was regarded as a revolutionary permanent filler,a friend of mine had a lip procedure done with Artifill. However unfortunately, whilst it produced a good result for a couple of years, she now has lumps which have been cut and injected with Cortisone, the latter offering a limited temporary beneficial effect.
With the speed of advancing technology,I wondered whether there is anything currently available to help extrude this filler from her lips,if in fact you do this proceedure yourself or can recommend anyone proficient in this specific field, that would be good news.
I would so welcome your expert opinion,as this has had such a detrimental effect on her self confidence. She won't even smile because she is so terribly conscious of it. Can you help please? :D

yes, artefill is terrible for the lips. it is really really bad. i have fixed this situation by not only trying to remove the excess artefill but by shaping the lip to look better. as you know, my specialty is lip reduction and i think i can help.
best,

Thankyou so much for your response Dr.Lam.It sounds really encouraging and although I can appreciate that she would require a consultation for you to assess the situation fully, would you be so kind as to tell me the approximate cost of this procedure please? If this is inappropriate on the forum, could you please pm this information to me?
Regards,
JoniLea

Hi doctor,
I've now informed my friend about this and have learnt that she has been cut three times over the years and that has unfortunately built more scar tissue, exacerbating the condition.
What she would really like to know is, whether there's been any advancement in finding a new injectable for dissolving PMMA fillers, which would have a similar successful effect as with HA fillers, also can anything be done in the delicate lip area to smooth scar tissue please? :)

no, there is no such thimg as a dissolver. however i will say that i have done people who have failed reductions because the surgeon had no idea what he was doing. just this week i did a revision for someone that came from africa and last week i did a fourth revision for a woman from new york that had 3 botched attempts. i would have to review her case to see if i could help.

Dr. Lam,
I have also had fat and restylane injected in the tear troughs.. Good results but short lived.
Do you use Artefill in this area?
