Questions about otoplasty

Postby YoungL » Sat Mar 05, 2011 12:12 am

Can a Otoplasty procedure cause hearing loss?

After the surgery has been recovered, can you touch your ears without breaking them ( like twist them, pull , etc)?

What happens if u experience a bad surgery can you go back to Ur old ears?

no, never heard of that.

not for the first few months. after 6 months, you could be more aggressive. after one year you can do whatever you like with them.

What happens if u experience a bad surgery can you go back to Ur old ears?
no, that is why you must pick your surgeon carefully.

So to my understanding a otoplasty works this way:

1.you cut and take excessive cartilage out and put sutures that fold ear back
2. You go through recovery time
3. You go back to the surgeon to take out the sutures ( cause the cartlidge heals in the form of the correct ear)
4. Your careful. With ears until 1 year, then it's normal

1.you cut and take excessive cartilage out and put sutures that fold ear back
i only remove cartilage if there is a cup deformity, i.e., when the central part of the ear or concha is in excess. i put sutures back to modify only the antihelix when the ear flops over. i almost always address the lop deformity but i only manage the cup deformity in about 30% of people.
2. You go through recovery time
yes, but in the right surgeon's hands that can be very minimal.
3. You go back to the surgeon to take out the sutures ( cause the cartlidge heals in the form of the correct ear)
no, all sutures that i use for otoplasty are either dissolvable or permanent buried but nothing needs to be removed.
4. Your careful. With ears until 1 year, then it's normal
yes, pretty much correct.

if you show me a photo i can help determine what kind of otoplasty would most benefit you (as you referred to the style) but as far as pricing (which is the same for all otoplasties), you have to email my staff at info@lamfacialplastics.com or for faster service call the office at 972-312-8188 between 9-5 M-F CDT.
best,
