Is Any Vertical Movemnt of the Ear Possible via Otoplasty?

Postby Ear6000 » Sat Feb 26, 2011 3:20 am

Hello,

I am wondering if it is possible to achieve any vertical movement of the ear via otoplasty?
I ask because one of my ears is higher than the other, so I would be interesting in either lowering one ear slightly or raising the other (or perhaps a combination of both). I don't really need my ears pinned back at all, but even some improvement in the vertical alignment of my ears would be great.

Is such a thing possible?

Thanks,

one can lower or shrink an ear but to make an ear bigger that is hard. even though i have reshaped ears for cancer that naturally become smaller afterward i do not know if it is worth the risk of the ear even slightly changing protrusion which it can after an ear reduction on one side. i personally would not do it.

Hello Dr. Lam,

I would not actually be looking to change the size of the ear. Both of my ears are the same size, one is just sitting higher up than the other. What I would be looking for is to slightly shift one ear up or down, but not actually change the size of the ear. If a picture would help, let me know.

Thanks,

no picture is necessary because that is physically impossible to do. i really wish i could help but what you are desiring does not lie in the scope of reasonable, doable otoplasty.
