plasma skin resurfacing

Postby midnightmist » Tue Jan 25, 2011 8:55 pm

Hello Dr Lam,

I am a 30 year old female who is genetically predisposed to marionette lines. I am interested in plasma resurfacing as a preventative measure. I have been considering facial fillers but the notion of inducing natural regeneration is very appealing. Can the plasma procedure be used as "preventative maintenance" and can the treatment be dialed down to ensure a weekend recovery.

Thank you
midnightmist

plasma will not "prevent" marionette lines. it is intended to rejuvenate the skin and make it look better. very little will prevent those lines except good genes, sun avoidance, non smoking, good diet, exercise, and avoiding stress in life to the best of your ability. yes, it can be dialed down to a weekend recovery. but you need several treatments and it is not equal to one big one that is a week recovery. i much prefer a single time with a slightly larger recovery to get truly good long-term gains.
best,

I have a friend in San Diego, a female who's turning forty this year, who is having what she calls "Plasma Skin Resurfacing" done later this week. She called to give me the news about an hour ago. Turns out it's being performed in Plano, Texas, courtesy of our buddy Sam Lam. In conjunction with the resurfacing, he'll be doing a midface lift, upper bleph and submental lipo. I actually talked to Lam a year or two ago about an undereye fat transfer, and I remember his yapping away at my consult about a laser procedure he could do concurrently; however, I have to confess that I didn't pay that much attention. He was a little odd, and try though I did, I just couldn't get past that. The phrase "delusions of grandeur" and "god complex" kept jockeying for position at the forefront of my mind as he rambled on. Anyway, I've trawled all over the web and there is very little real, academic, peer-reviewed information on this procedure.

i am leaving this post up for now because it shows you how absolutely sick the Internet has become. I do not have a patient from San Diego coming next week nor am I performing a plasma skin resurfacing next week and I do not do mid facelifts. We are truly encountering the Wild Wild West here.
best,

what is even more interesting is that i deleted two other posts by this same guy dispensing medical advice on plasma and dimples so this must be another physician talking smack. very sad!

Dr. Lam
Plasma skin resurfacing is really useful in reducing the wrinkles and improving the skin texture and tone. My friend she is 30 years old having wrinkles, stretch marks. Is this plasma skin resurfacing beneficial for him. By this treatment can her skin tone be improved and reduced the wrinkles.

for the face yes, for the body no. lasers on the body in general just don't heal well if they are "ablative", burns away skin that is. radiofrequency tightening like Accent Xl would be preferable if we are talking about body issues.
